BlogKC notes that Famous Dave’s is fleeing for the suburbs, leaving the Power & Light District without a bar-b-q joint. That’s not a huge tragedy in my book, since I could never quite bring myself to hit Famous Dave’s with options like Jack Stack and Gates mere minutes away.
Old Chicago Pizza will be the new tenant. As far as pizza chains go, Old Chicago is a good one in my opinion. Dollars & Sense:
Old Chicago offers Chicago-style pizza and made-from-scratch dough, along with more than 110 types of beer from around the world…
If a deal is reached, [the area franchise owner] would spend a couple of months remodeling the 6,300-square-foot space, enlarging the bar area and adding a number of televisions in time for the 2009 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball in March.
My previous experience with Old Chicago actually centers on NCAA basketball and spicy deep dish pizza, a couple of my heart languages. However, the argument offered by the KC Beer Blog does have some validity…

I know what you mean. Eating at Famous Dave’s feels like rooting for the visiting team at a Royals of Chiefs game. It’s pretty good food, but I have to keep in homegrown.
