Quick Intro...

Hi, I'm AJ Vanderhorst. Born in Lawrence, Kansas, home of the mighty Jayhawks, I currently live near downtown Kansas City. I'm married to the beautiful Lindsay, and have two rambunctious kids, Aidan and Asher. At the moment, my goal is to freelance write & get an urban church plant off the ground. It would also be cool to keep my hoops game alive and see a downtown Renaissance in KC.

Another Thing...

This blog is where I think out loud about knowing Jesus, living out my theology, and making risky plans, so it has a personal, sometimes confessional flavor. We want to see a new, Jesus-exalting, culturally-focused work of God started in the urban arts district of KC. Feel free to contact me if something here sparks your interest.

Kansas Jayhawk Basketball is Back: 2008-2009

Posting has been slow lately, due to the fact that in the last two weeks I’ve been out of town repeatedly, had a bunch of meetings, our whole family has had the flu, and Lindsay has had her wisdom teeth out. Seriously.

However…now I have a magnetically compelling reason to break the silence.

Kansas Jayhawk basketball is back, starting tomorrow night (Tuesday), when KU takes on Washburn in the first exhibition/charity/tune-up game of the season. The Jayhawks have a ton of new recruits, so we’re eager to get a look at their skills and decide whether they have a shot at a championship repeat in the next couple years.

Tomorrow will be an official holiday at the Vanderhorst home. Asher will pretend his nose isn’t running, Lindsay will pop a few extra pain meds, Aidan will stop running around yelling for a couple hours, and I’ll act like I’m not hopped up on coffee as we sit down as a family to watch this game.

Good times ahead!
